About Us

Mynotera is a internet auction specializing in old books, stamps, postcards, ephemera, maps, catalogs, vintage magazines, prints, interesting antiques, etc….. Buyers and sellers are invited to join! You will find many interesting items throughout the site, but we’d also like to have you sell your antique items and better paper goods. Register and begin buying and selling on Mynotera!!

We want to create an atmosphere a collector might find at his or her favorite book shop or antique store - a place where browsing is a pleasant experience.

In order to keep it interesting, we have to be somewhat selective in the items we want listed. We are not stubborn on this point, but there are some guidelines to follow before listing items on Mynotera. Items must have some chance of selling, some inherent value, whether it’s scarce, or beautiful, or holds interesting content, or has an established value determined from viewing similar types of items sold at auction. It doesn’t have to be super rare or one of a kind, just something that isn’t common. This method is similar to a live auctioneer being presented with items to place in his auction. Not all things will be acceptable. The auctioneer knows what has a good chance of selling and feels that most people know good from bad. He doesn’t want to clutter up his tables with worthless stuff that will waste people’s time. We hold the same attitude. One way we try to have some control over this is to charge a small listing fee. Without it what would stop someone from listing anything, including all the items already tried on other auctions? Of course there are hundreds of millions of buyers on the internet, and this creates an atmosphere that occasionally finds someone bidding on almost anything, but at Mynotera we get bored quickly. We like treasure hunting, but some fields hold very little treasure. And if we're searching for things but don’t find one in 5 minutes of looking, we lose interest. So, that’s why we must try to have a little control over what Mynotera offers.

Our philosophy is simple: offer an overall nice grouping of interesting old items -- items which appeal to collectors and to people with taste. In this way we ensure that time spent with us is time well spent.
