A rare photo-essay on the town of Corning, Painted Post and vicinity in Steuben County, Upstate New York. The photographic content focuses on how these towns looked from 1880 to 1946. (There is also a reproduction of a painting by Henry Walton of Painted Post in 1851.) Subjects include: The New York State Arsenal (built in 1858); Pritchard Hose Co. No. 1, Corning; Hamilton & Water Streets, Painted Post; Covered Bridge near Addison; Weston Engine Company, 1883; Ingersoll-Rand Company, 1905; Erie Railroad passenger and Freight Station, Erie Avenue and Pine Street; Painted Post Monument, 1910; Corning Opera House, 1910; Goff Summer Home - later Imperial Club House, 1913; Bronson House, corner of Water and Hamilton Streets, Painted Post, 1913; Dickinson House, Corning, 1913-14; Hodgman's Mill, West Water Street, 1937; and more. Also covered are the Floods of 1901, 1935 and 1946.

This is a great collectible for those interested in local history of the area. Never reprinted, as far as I know. Book is 8 1/2" x 11" with verty little wear.
