INTER-PLANET ADVENTURES OF FLASH GORDON
No. 1
OCTOBER 1950
HARVEY
First Flash Gordon issue under Harvey, notable for its Sci-Fi bondge cover. Reprints the Alex Raymond strips from 7/14/40 to 12/8/40. By Overstreet standards, this book grades VERY GOOD+. Spine roll and less than 1" tear or split on spine from bottom. Off-white to slightly yellowy pages. Nice copy of a scarce book.
Comic comes bagged and boarded and buffered by cardboard in shipping.
A WORD ABOUT THE SCANS: My scanner is older, and tends to present a less vivid image then newer scanners. Also it has a tendency to make old paper look a bit more yellowish than it actually may be, so please bear that in mind when viewing the photos. (I have to work with what I've got.) It is still better than a camera for closeup details though. Front and back images are the only ones that I scan for comic books as interior scans could compromise the book. I will only scan an interior when it is absolutely necessary that something should be seen and usually only in lower grade books.
A WORD ABOUT GRADING: I grade conservatively using the Oversteet guide, the recognized standard of comic book grading. Overstreeet is tough and not all that forgiving. You pay a high premium for comic books that are professionally graded, and often you're just paying for that official tag tacked on to the book's value. As long as you trust the grader, why succumb to the added expense? In describing condition/defects I concentrate on things that may not be apparent by looking solely at a scan. Your satisfaction is my chief concern and if you disagree with the grade of a book once received you may return it for a full refund.
A WORD ABOUT PRICING: Mynotera is an auction site that is not well-known for comic books (yet). There is little competition (at present) compared to sites like eBay, Heritage, ComicConnect,ComicLink, etc. Consequently the opening bid here will be a bit higher. (I could put up a Batman #11 in FINE condition on any one of those sites with a low start and be assured of a reasonably high return, while here I'd have to play it much closer to the vest.) That is not to say there aren't good bargains to be had in comic books on Mynotera. In fact, until the competition heats up, it is a buyer's market and in all likelihood, a very good deal for you.
